Structured Cabling and Network Cabling in Edmonton

The cabling behind your walls is the foundation everything else runs on - your internet, your phones, your security cameras, your wireless access points. When it is done right, you never think about it. When it is done wrong, you deal with slow connections, dropped VoIP calls, and intermittent failures that are nearly impossible to troubleshoot.

CommCore provides structured cabling and network cabling installation for businesses across Edmonton, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, and the surrounding area. We run clean, labelled, standards-compliant cable that is built to handle your needs today and your growth tomorrow.

What We Install

Cat5e Cabling. Supports speeds up to 1 Gbps and is suitable for most standard office environments. A cost-effective option for businesses with basic networking and VoIP requirements.

Cat6 Cabling. Supports speeds up to 10 Gbps over shorter distances and offers improved interference resistance over Cat5e. This is our most commonly installed cable type and the best balance of performance and cost for Edmonton-area offices.

Cat6A Cabling. Supports 10 Gbps over the full 100-metre distance. Recommended for businesses with high data demands, dense device environments, or future-proofing requirements.

Fiber Optic Cabling. For high-speed backbone connections between floors, buildings, or server rooms. We install both single-mode and multi-mode fiber, terminated and tested to specification.

We also install patch panels, wall plates, surface-mount boxes, cable management systems, and network racks. Every job is terminated, tested, certified, and clearly labelled.

When Your Business Needs Cabling

New office or new location. If you are moving into a space that was not wired for your needs - or was never wired at all - a full structured cabling installation gives you a clean foundation for every system in the building.

Office renovation or expansion. Adding workstations, meeting rooms, or a new wing means adding cable runs. We plan routes that integrate with your existing infrastructure without tearing up what is already working.

VoIP phone system installation. A business phone system that runs over the internet depends entirely on the quality of the network it sits on. If your cabling is old, improperly terminated, or running at speeds below what VoIP demands, call quality suffers. We often install cabling alongside VoIP deployments to make sure the phones work perfectly from day one.

Slow or unreliable network. If your team complains about slow file transfers, buffering video calls, or Wi-Fi dead zones, the cabling is often the problem - not the internet connection. Outdated Cat5 cable, improperly terminated jacks, and overloaded switches can bottleneck an otherwise fast network.

Wireless access point installation. Business-grade Wi-Fi access points need Ethernet drops at specific locations for proper coverage. We run the cable, mount the access points, and configure them for full coverage throughout your space.

Our Cabling Process

Site Survey. We walk your space and assess what exists, what needs to change, and where new cable runs should go. We identify the best routes, plan for cable management, and determine the materials needed.

Cable Route Planning. We map out every run from the server room or network closet to each desk, meeting room, printer, access point, and camera location. Clean routing means easier troubleshooting and simpler moves or additions down the road.

Installation. We pull cable through ceilings, walls, and conduit. We terminate every run at both ends - patch panel on one side, wall plate or surface-mount box on the other. Everything is dressed neatly, bundled with Velcro, and clearly labelled at both ends.

Testing and Certification. Every cable run is tested for continuity, proper termination, and speed performance. You get a clean, reliable network that meets industry standards.

Cabling and VoIP Go Together

Most of the VoIP installation work we do at CommCore involves some level of network cabling. IP phones need Ethernet connections, and many offices - especially older ones - do not have enough data drops at each desk. Others have old Cat5 cable that cannot reliably support the speeds VoIP requires.

When we install a VoIP phone system alongside new cabling, we design both systems together. That means your cable runs are planned around your phone layout, your network switches are sized for the number of devices, and your Quality of Service settings are configured end-to-end. The result is a phone system that sounds clear from the first call.

If you are considering a phone system upgrade, a cabling assessment should be part of that conversation. We will tell you honestly whether your existing wiring can handle it or whether new runs are needed.
